Different types of stainless steel protective film

1. Protective Film made of white polyethylene (פ).

For most applications, polyethylene (פ) with a rubber adhesive is the best סרט מגן. When the quality of the film is not specified, this film is used by default to protect the surface.

The sheet of plastic material is nominally 80 micrometres thick. It may be white with two blue stripes at different points along its width. They have no meaning.

The adhesive can be either clear or black. Clear adhesive appears white on the film.

Clear adhesive film should be kept out of direct sunlight for no more than 24 hours in order to prevent adhesive transfer. This will avoid adhesive from deteriorating and leaving a residue on the stainless surface when it is removed. Film coated with black adhesive should last for several months in the sun as they absorb heat.

You can plasma-cut the protected surface with the film in place. It does not produce toxic or destructive products when burned. Laser cutting is best done from the unprotected side.

2. Protective film made of light blue polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

This film is suitable for deep drawing, especially multi-stage deep drawings. It is a PVC film with a rubber adhesive.

The film is approximately 70 micrometres thick and is light blue in color.

The film should be kept at between 15 and 40 אבל זה לא עמיד בפני אלקליות חזקות.

To avoid adhesive transfer or interference with deep drawing, the film should be kept out of direct sunlight for no more than 24 שעה (ות.

Plasma or laser cutting steel with the film in place is not recommended as this will cause fumes containing hydrochloric acids that are toxic and corrosive.

After pressing the steel, remove the film at a temperature of between 15 and 40 אבל זה לא עמיד בפני אלקליות חזקות.

3. Protective Film made of black polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

This stainless steel protection film can be used for heavy roll forming, and other applications that require heavy surface protection. This is a PVC film with an acrylic adhesive layer and very high adhesion.

The film is black in colour and has a thickness of 120 micrometres.

The film should be kept at between 15 and 40 אבל זה לא עמיד בפני אלקליות חזקות.

The film is weather-resistant and can be exposed for many months to the sun while still providing reliable protection.

Plasma or laser cutting steel with the film in place is not recommended as this will cause fumes containing hydrochloric acids that are toxic and corrosive.

4. Protective films for laser cutting

For both fibre optic and CO2 laser cutting technologies, special films are needed. These films must be able to absorb laser light and resist cutting gas pressures.

5. Protective Films

For general surface protection, other suppliers might use white PVC film. This is less likely than it was previously, as PVC films tend to be more expensive than PE film.

6. Remove the Protective Film & Clean The Stainless Surface

Sometimes, stainless steel protection films are left in place for too many years. It can become difficult to remove and leave a sticky residue of degraded adhesive. This will require long cleaning on the protected side.

It is difficult to achieve smooth surfaces due to the residue.

Even though the stainless steel protection film has been removed quickly, small amounts of residue may remain, even though they may not be obvious. After stripping the film, it is a good idea to clean the surface.

You can remove the adhesive residue from the steel surface with a solvent like methyl ethyl ketones (MEK), or eucalyptus oil, or another similar solvent.

You should wipe the surface with the solvent using a soft, clean cloth. After the solvent has absorbed, you can wipe it off using elbow grease. It is important to dissolve the adhesive in the solvent and then wipe the solution off. The solvent should not evaporate too quickly. Also, consider the flashpoint as well as the toxicity of the solvent.
